Hello! I’m Malissa

I’m so glad you are here! I’m a work-from-home mom writing and building my own life. I love teaching nutrition. It’s fun! By way of introduction, I’m Malissa Van Zee. I love traveling, learning martial arts, teaching others how to be healthier, and playing my flute at times.

5 things to do When you feel like quitting!

I talked about this on my live yesterday on Facebook. And then uploaded it to YouTube.

Cry! And get the emotions out! It will help you get re-focused.  Take some time and remember what you are fighting for. And sometimes when you are building a better future, you will get frustrated and want to quit.

Get your focus back by any means needed.

Follow the 5 principles for success! I learned about this from the book “Finding Zero” by my awesome friend from Australia, Chris Lianos.

Know your outcome!

Know how you will achieve it! If you don’t know how to set goals, please connect with me. One of my best friends is an expert in this field. And we will help. But here’s a short way to set goals and it’s actually an acronym. SMART!

S is for specific. You need to know EXACTLY what you want. Write this out.

M is for measurable. Have a specific time frame which this will take place

A is for achievable. Make sure this is something you can do. You can do what you want. But if you aren’t willing to do the work: it’s not achievable. You can become a black belt, but not if you aren’t willing to go through training. This applies to anything.

R is for relevant!  Is it worthwhile? Is this the right time to do it? Does it match your other efforts/needs? Am I the right person to reach this goal? Is it applicable right now?

T is for time. Set a specific time that this will become realized. Answer the question of when. What can you start with today?

Realize it must be self-initiated and self-maintained. If this is something that you aren’t willing to initiate and maintain: this isn’t achievable! This doesn’t mean you won’t need help. But it does mean that your coach won’t have time to hold your hand. You need to maintain it. Your coach will help. But he/she isn’t going to do it for you.  

Act. If you don’t take action, it won’t happen. Period.  

Have sensory acuity. Know what’s going on around you. Set goals to help you realize you are achieving what you want.

Have behavioral flexibility! Be flexible and understanding with yourself.

Operate from a mindset of excellence. You will achieve your goal. Keep believing it!

Don’t allow quitting to be an option. No matter what!

Black Belt Mindset!

Life can be crazy at times! You can set plans, do all the right activities to make them happen. But then they get held up! What can you do? You have 2 choices: quit or push on! A blackbelt in ANY martial arts system will tell you to push on! This is having a blackbelt mindset!

How do you push on when you decide that you will push through even when things don’t go according to plan? Here are some simple things that my leader, Dr. Reggie Cochran taught me. But I’ve also observed in EVERY MARTIAL ARTIST I’m friends with!

  1. Decide to push on! Everything will hinge on this!
  2. Regroup! Take a day or 2 (not more than that! Success loves speed!).
  3. Come up with a new plan to get what you want. For example, I want to be a writer and network marketing leader in my company. But a business trip I wanted to go on to help with writing didn’t come to pass even though I’ve paid for it! So, I’ve taken a few days and come up with a new plan. And it comes down to my going back to what I know to do.
  4. Keep your new plan simple! KISS means Keep It Super Simple (I know there are other variations that aren’t so nice). Remember: the shortest distance between any 2 places is a straight line. Figure out the straight line. Then do it.
  5. Get a coach! Ask for help! This is a sign of strength, not weakness. Even Jesus went to His Father for help! And if He had to: that’s an example for the rest of us.
  6. Find the money! Usually the things you want aren’t free. But are worth the cost.
  7. Take all out massive action on what you need to do. And IGNORE the naysayers!

You can have the life you want just adopt a new mindset! Become a blackbelt in your mind! From there, it will come to pass! As long as you don’t quit!
